Last night, Stephen Colbert welcomed "indie rock supergroup" The Postal Service onto the Colbert Report for their first ever TV appearance. The band, comprised of Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel, and Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, delivered a stellar performance of "Such Great Heights" and a web-exclusive performance of a new track from the remastered version of Give Up, "Tattered Line of String."

All three sat down with Colbert for a brief interview about the formation of the group in 2003, their back and forth method of making songs, and Lewis's collaboration on vocals. Colbert managed to get in a few jabs as well, calling the group's music "bleep-blorp" and showing an embarrassing clip of a young Lewis acting in a Toys-R-Us commercial.
The Postal Service's TV appearance comes on the heels of the April re-release of Give Up. The remastered version commemorates the tenth anniversary of the album's original release date and includes 15 bonus tracks, including the new songs "Tattered Line of String" and "Turn Around".
