Portugal. The Man played Conan. The O'Brien last night. On the TV program, they did "Purple Yellow Red And Blue" from their latest album, Evil Friends.

The song is dark and slightly disturbing, but also a funky good time. Drummer Kane Ritchotte lays down a good strong beat and his high energy playing carries the song, for the most part. There's an interesting dynamic happening between lead singer John Gourley and the rest of the band. His unusual vocal style works in the setting of the group and is quite captivating. Talk show performances are tough, and it seems like the group never completely locks in like they would at a full live show. The lighting is pretty cool.
