Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats are a throwback to the 1970s. Their music sounds as if it was actually written and recorded back then, which could be partly due to the fact that they use vintage equipment to play and record. But they also manage to really get the sound and spirit of 70s psychedelic fuzz rock and old heavy metal. Their latest album, Mind Control, was released in May, but the video for their single "Mind Crawler" was released today. Keeping with their vintage sound, the video looks like it was recorded in the same time period, bouncing around between shots of motorcycles, deserts, cults full of naked people, guns, and the occasional demon goat skull.
Mind Control is a concept album about a cult leader who brainwashes his followers with drugs, love, and fear. So, knowing that, the video makes a little more sense.
On August 19, "Mind Crawler" will be re-released as a special 7-inch vinyl with a special b-side track, "Get on Home," written by none other than Charles Manson.
You can get Mind Control on iTunes or from Rise Above Records. The single re-release of "Mind Crawler" will be found on Rise Above Records as well.
