After the unfortunate loss of guitar player Flattus Maximus in 2011, GWAR is finally getting back to melting faces. Battle Maximus is GWAR's 13th studio album, and from what we've heard so far, the record may destroy the human race.

One of the first songs from the new record, "Bloodbath" shreds in classic GWAR style, a blood-soaked metal/punk nightmare with blazing guitars and brutal drums.

According to the band's website, the Battle Maximus is both a tribute to departed guitarist Flattus Maximus, and another chapter in the ever-evolving mythos of the band. Frontman Oderus Urungus had this to say:

“The combo of the brand new album and show should satisfy even the most hardcore Flattus devotee with the fact that GWAR’s slay-skills are as supreme as ever, and the band stands poised to embark on our most earth-shattering world tour yet. We have mourned, we have honored, and now it’s time to fucking DEVASTATE in the name of Flattus and the supreme entity that is GWAR.”

Read the full statement about the new record at their official website, and listen to another new track from Battle Maximus via Metal Blade Records.
