Okkervil River, a folk and country rock band from Austin Texas, release their 7th studio album The Silver Gymnasium on September 3rd. The opening track "It Was My Season" starts the album on a spritely tempo centered around the piano and accompanied by the beauty of Will Sheff's melancholy voice. "On A Balcony" shifts the focus to Okkervil River's powerful guitar riffs with stronger vocals from Sheff and the rest of the band singing backup. Before "Pink-Slips" draws your focus to raw vocals, clapping and acoustic guitar backed by only minor electric sounds, "Down Down The Deep River" showcases an up-tempo and robust expression of vocals and instrumentation for which Okkervil River is known.
