With Bay Area garage rock mainstays Thee Oh Sees recently announcing an indefinite hiatus, what's a guy like prolific frontman John Dwyer to do? Why, start a solo project, of course. Damaged Bug is Dwyer's new moniker, and he's just shared "Eggs at Night" from the album Hubba Bubba (due out on February 25th).

Let's get this out of the way: "Eggs at Night" doesn't sound anything like Thee Oh Sees, no matter how you slice it. What it does sound like is New Order on a $15 budget. Dwyer's baritone cuts through rough-hewn electro-pop, spouting off lyrics about ice and freezing that hit a little too close to home during this coldpocalypse that most of the US is experiencing right now.

According to a press release, Dwyer made Hubba Bubba with “synthesizers, drum machines, and assorted hand-made electronics,” so we can expect this sound to pervade the entire album. The album will be released on Dwyer's own Castle Face Records, and there's no preorder available at the moment. Check out the lyrics to "Eggs at Night" and Hubba Bubba's tracklist below.

Damaged Bug "Eggs at Night" lyrics:

What kind of fool am I
Take all my views, cold black ice
I'm looking out on life, yeah
I'm seeing endless freezing night
So take my hand if you will
And share a pulse of thumping heart
So I can feel you

What kind of man am I
Take all my years off the knife
I'm looking out on life, yeah
I'm seeing endless empty night
So take my hand if you will
And share a pulse of thumping heart
So I can feel you
