"Turd" - Krill [SoundCloud Audio]

Here's another track from Massachusetts indie band Krill's Steve Hears Pile in Malden and Bursts into Tears EP (due out on February 18th), and it's called "Turd." Preceded by the EP's title track, this is the second song we've heard from the upcoming release.

This song could've also been titled "Peanut," as its lyrics are based on a pair of metaphors: "a turd spinning in flushing water, not going down" and a cracked-open peanut "not getting eaten." All singer Jonah Furman wants is to either be flushed, eaten, or, in a moment of mid-song revelation, eaten and then flushed. Using a childish façade to talk about adult problems (namely, making tough decisions) is a ballsy strategy, and one that pays off for Krill in this emotionally wrought, feces-centric song. The music is pure '90s indie rock, and the fact that Furman sings like Frank Black doesn't hurt either.
