This week, Jordan Lee's indie folk project Mutual Benefit stopped by the Butler Recording studio in Bushwick to tape a live set for Brooklyn Vegan's new Studio Sessions series. The band, now consisting of six members, played three songs, all of which you can watch above.

Beginning with their most well known song to date, "Advanced Falconry," Mutual Benefit went on to play some deeper cuts, picking two songs from 2010's Spider Heaven EP: "Desert Island Feeling" and "Moonville Tunnel." Though the latter two precede the band's breakout LP Love's Crushing Diamond by three years, their earnest melodies and subtle arrangements seem cut from the same cloth, and no less worthy of our praise.

Mutual Benefit are growing in a couple of different ways. The first, and most obvious, is their literal size. When we saw them in Brooklyn last November, they performed with four members (up from two in October), and now Lee has assembled a larger cast of musicians, leading to a much more lush sound. Secondly, Love's Crushing Diamond was just given a wider release by Other Music Recording Co. We highly recommend picking up a copy immediately.

Keep paying attention to Mutual Benefit's rise by visiting their Zumic Artist Page. There's more music and videos, as well as info on their current tour.
