In preparation for the release of their Real Hair EP on February 11th, Speedy Ortiz have just shared a second track with us. Preceded by "Everything's Bigger," "American Horror" is now available to stream above.

The song's driven by an onslaught of fuzzy riffs, as well as the intelligent lyrics we've come to expect from marble-mouthed frontwoman Sadie Dupuis. We're not exactly sure what "American Horror" is really about, but its lyrics are chock full of fantastic imagery. In particular, the line about someone laid "out on a stretcher after your home stretch" leaves the listener with enough information to partially visualize a scene, as well as enough mystery to imbue a desire for repeat listens. After all, the best songwriters are often the ones whose lyrics are ambiguous enough to prompt debates among fans about their true meaning. In terms of up-and-coming, indie rock songwriters, Dupuis is up there with the best of them.
