Since 2011's When Fish Ride Bicycles, Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish of Chicago hipster hoppers The Cool Kids have been more focused on solo projects, including production for Rick Ross and Mac Miller (Inglish) and a gaggle of self-produced mixtapes (Rocks). Today, the duo shared two new tracks: the true-to-form "Computer School" (above), and the HBK Gang-assisted "Chop" (below).
Of the two tracks, the 808s-driven, sparse "Computer School" most resembles The Cool Kids' older material, and "Chop" seems like an attempt to fit in with a more modern hip hop (or even broader musical) landscape. The former opens with a Steve Harvey sample, and the latter may be the first song in which a Wu-Tang reference has backed up to a North Face reference, so it's clear that The Cool Kids have retained their goofy charm.
Both tracks are said to be from Shark Week, The Cool Kids' yet-to-be-scheduled upcoming album. Stay tuned for more info on that, and in the meantime check out Chuck Inglish's recent collaboration with Mac Miller and Ab-Soul right here on Zumic.
