"Descended From Myth" - RJD2 [YouTube Official Video]

Last year, RJD2 put out More Is Than Isn't, an album full of mostly-instrumental hip-hop jams. One of the album's punchier cuts is "Descended From Myth," which has just received video treatment. Watch above.

The video depicts every musician's nightmare: a one-machine band. Outfitted with drums, bass, keyboard and a full horn section, this beastly device "performs" "Descended From Myth" all on its own, as spectators begin to filter in, acting as if they are observing an art exhibition. It's funny that a laptop-based DJ like RJD2 used this imagery in his own music video -- maybe the machine is how he sees himself -- when it could be seen as a dystopian comment on DJ culture. In a world where self-driving cars are almost a reality, let this self-playing "band" serve as a warning against the over-automation of music.
