Step Brothers is a new project from The Alchemist and Evidence, who both do record production and rapping. The Los Angeles duo has brought on Queens MC Action Bronson for "Mums In the Garage," the latest single off their upcoming album Lord Steppington due out on January 21st. Listen above.
Things start with a chaotic mix of samples and Bronson establishing his presence. The song is hard, and a little goofy. Maybe it's just the sample of a British woman asking "where's the loot?" in the beginning of the track, but "Mums In The Garage" makes me think of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Gimme The Loot" from 1994. Both songs also have a minimal bass line consisting of mainly just 1 or 2 notes. Then there's that similar theme of gettin' that money by any means necessary.
