"Sound Boy Burial" - Astro [SoundCloud Audio]

Astro, our favorite underage rapper over here at Zumic, is back with another great track. "Sound Boy Burial" is culled from his upcoming EP, and it features a choice sample of Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man." Listen above.

Once again, the 17-year-old Astro proves he can lyrically bury any other rapper his age (maybe even a few that are several years his senior) with vicious, breath-sapping stanzas. A standout moment occurs when the beat drops out, allowing Astro some space to spit:

Buggin', ain't lovin'
These women I'm huggin'
You nothin', I'm rugged
My borough is thuggin'
I'm fly, you just luggage
You niggas will rummage
For somethin' that's thumpin'
Instead of just lookin'
At this cat from Brooklyn
All 'cause he ain't put a catchy hook in

Preaching the mainstream-averse values that artists like Talib Kweli popularized earlier in the 2000s, Astro shows that he's confident enough to shoulder a "me against the world" mentality. Ballsy, talented and smart, he's everything most 17-year-olds aren't.

Astro's yet-to-be-titled EP also doesn't have a release date yet, but the SoundCloud description of "Sound Boy Burial" promises that it's "coming soon." Keep filling the Astro-sized hole in your life with more of his music and videos, available on his Zumic artist page.
