For the 20th anniversary of his landmark debut, Nas will be releasing Illmatic XX, a deluxe edition of the album that will contain rare demos, freestyles and remixes. We've already heard the "'93 Stretch & Bobbito Freestyle Part 1," and now here's a remix of "It Ain't Hard to Tell" done by The Large Professor, the original song's producer. Stream it above.

Originally included on the 12" single for "It Ain't Hard to Tell," released shortly after Illmatic in 1994, this version's gotten increasingly rarer as time has gone on and records have been damaged, discarded and lost. In comparison to the original's smooth, Michael Jackson-sampling groove, this remix is harder-edged and driven by guitar and vocal samples, the latter of which seems to say "Nas Nas Nas is the kicker that's going." It may not be as essential as the version that closes out Illmatic, but for Nas die-hards, it will be yet another nugget in the motherlode that Illmatic XX is shaping up to be.
