De La Soul will be releasing their Smell The Da.I.S.Y. mixtape as a free download on March 26th (next week). Listen to a taste above, "Vocabulary Spills" featuring a J Dilla produced beat, and some pretty slick turntablism. The phrase "Vocabulary Spills" comes from Nas' "It Aint Hard To Tell" from The Illmatic and we hear a Nas sample on this track.

As they say on their SoundCloud, "We created this project to celebrate the life and legacy of James D. Yancy aka J Dilla. #deladilla" Other projects De La Soul are working on are another mixtape produced by DJ Premier & Pete Rock titled "Premiem Soul On The Rocks," and an official album called "You're Welcome."

It's been a pretty busy 2014 for De La Soul so far. A couple weeks ago, we got our first taste of the Smell The Da.I.S.Y. project with "Dilla Plugged In." On Valentine's Day, they gave away their complete catalog as free downloads, and last week they performed a memorable version of Feel Good Inc with Gorillaz cohort Damon Albarn at SXSW.

A Tribe Called Quest's Phife Dawg also released a J Dilla tribute called "Dear Dilla" earlier this year.
