Last night on The Tonight Show, Michael David Rosenberg (aka Passenger) performed "Scare Away the Dark" from his upcoming album Whispers. Watch the official HD video above, via Hulu.

Passenger performed completely solo, playing acoustic guitar and singing with his unique vocal style. "Scare Away The Dark" is a powerful call for old fashioned living and positivity. Lines like "We should stare at the stars, and not just at screens," "We're scared of drowning, flying and shooters, But were all slowing dying in front of computers," and "We want something real, not just hashtags and twitter" are blatantly anti-technology statements, and ideas that haven't been getting much play lately. Are we due for more hippy anthems like this? Time will tell.

The studio version of the song is also available as a single on Spotify, which features a full band including drums, bass, keyboards, and horns:

Passenger's Whisper is due to be released on June 9 2014. It will be his first album since 2012's All The Little Lights, which featured the smash hit single "Let Her Go." He has played "Scare Away The Dark" during concerts and on radio, but this was the television debut of the song.
