The indie rock videographers at Yours Truly have just shared a short documentary on Future Islands that features an interview and performances of two tracks from their new album: "Seasons (Waiting on You)" and "A Dream of You and Me." Watch the video, entitled "Future Islands: Time For The Show," above.

The short film centers on the band's return to Floristree, a DIY venue in their native Baltimore, "for the last time," with the band members stating that Future Islands are now too big for the tiny performance space. Frontman Samuel T. Herring and the other two full-time members of the band spend a good portion of their interviews expounding upon the merits of Baltimore's music scene, with Herring saying, "It's a haven for a kind of a good spirit for the arts" and mentioning how it was Dan Deacon who first convinced the band to move there.

Herring also spoke on the band's relatively newfound successes: "We were asked in an interview recently what success would do for us, or if it would change us, or what is success? I mean, we already have success in what we do. We've been able to live off of our music, to eat and pay our bills for four and a half years."

This documentary, though short, offers a nice window into Future Islands' performances, ethics and devotion to their hometown. Stream the band's recent album, Singles, right here on Zumic, and check out some additional info from the documentary's YouTube description below.

From the YouTube description:

"Roughly three weeks ahead of their epic Letterman performance, we joined synth-pop heroes Future Islands as they traveled from NYC to Baltimore for a homecoming show at the Floristree, a decades-oid communal space with an unlisted address and legendary role in the city's DIY scene. Conversation in the van spanned from UNC football to who would die first in a slasher flick, though much of the drive was punctuated by the vital quiet time of a band that's played over 800 live shows to date. It's impossible not to be touched by frontman Samuel T. Herring's gut-wrenching live theatrics—equally astonishing was the palpable enthusiasm of their eclectic hometown fanbase. In celebration of their excellent fourth LP, 'Singles', we're honored to present this glimpse into the lives of one of the hardest working and most dynamic bands in contemporary music. Here's Future Islands: Time For The Show."
