Indie rock singer Sharon Van Etten has just released a rather interesting video for her single "Taking Chances." The single is off of her upcoming fourth studio album, Are We There.

The video takes place in Sharon's brightly lit office as she is giving a customer a tarot reading. The heavy bass guitar, organs and her blank stares contribute to the eeriness of the video. Midway through, Van Etten then takes her chances and has her fate read by the customer, which leads to a bunch of hands invading her face.

According to her record label, Jagjaguwar, director Michael Palmieri based the music video from Agnès Varda's '60s film, Cleo from 5 to 7. Unbeknownst to him, the album artwork for Are We There contains a "...picture of Agnès Varda standing in front of a bazillion reels of 16mm film." What's even more strange is that the same picture is from a piece of artwork that has hung on Sharon's wall for years.

You can pre-order Are We There on iTunes or get a bundle package on SC Distribution. Are We There is set to be released on May 27th, 2014 and May 26th, 2014 in Europe.
