Arcade Fire - Full Set at Coachella Festival 4.13.2014 [YouTube Video] | Zumic

"Hello. Hello. I am Fred, and you, you are Coachella, and I was brought here to your planet by this next band. And this next band is Arcade Fire."

That's how the crowd attending Arcade Fire's festival-closing set at Coachella were greeted last night, as a man in a costume made of mirrors (get it? like Reflektor??) heralded the arrival of Arcade Fire, perhaps indie rock's biggest band of the moment. What followed was a 97 minute set filled with old and new favorites, guest appearances by Blondie's Debbie Harry and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and of course, the band's life-affirming take on rock music.

Beginning with two Reflektor cuts, Arcade Fire quickly moved to a pair of songs from their 2004 debut, and continued on to craft a wonderfully consistent set that bridged the band's many eras, sounds and genres. After over an hour of enjoyable tunes, the band brought out Harry to perform the Blondie hit "Heart Of Glass" and the disco-fied Suburbs track "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)." The ineffably cool Harry told the crowd to "Cruise on, motherfuckers," and vogued out with Arcade Fire's Régine Chassagne to the funky beats. The band closed their set with a rousting performance of "Wake Up" that brought them out into the audience with members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, giving all in attendance a truly memorable conclusion to the weekend's festivities.
