"Blatant Water Cannon" & "Ascii Bot" - Percussions (Four Tet) [SoundCloud Audio Streams]

Here are two more tracks evidencing the fact that Kieran Hebdan never stops working. After a busy first quarter of 2014 working under the name Four Tet, his most common stage name, Hebdan has now unveiled plans to release a pair of 12" singles on April 28th under the name Percussions. Today, he shared the A and B sides of one of them, posting the tracks "Blatant Water Cannon" and "Ascii Bot" on SoundCloud. Stream the former above, and the latter below.

The first of the two, "Blatant Water Cannon," is glitchy from the get-go, giving us nearly 90 seconds of uninterrupted pulsations of sound before adding a beat and getting a whole lot funkier. The second half is where things really start to pick up, with a plethora of bite-sized samples being phased in and out of the mix to create a very hyperactive vibe.

"Ascii Bot" is the chiller and less abrasive of the two, getting its money's worth out of an angelic, arpeggiating synth line that persists in mostly unadulterated forms throughout the track's eight and a half minutes. Vocal samples of a woman singing "Movin' on," a squelchy bassline, and digital flourishes that are reminiscent of text alerts or computer boot-up sounds provide accompaniment to this trance-style track.

Overall, these two Percussions tracks couldn't be more different than the pair of tracks Hebdan made two months ago with grime musician Terror Danjah, again showing his versatility in the vast field of electronic music.
