Chromeo's fourth studio album, White Women, is now available for streaming. Check it out on Spotify via the link above.

Chromeo have made a name for themselves as the self-billed "funklordz," and their diehard fans can tell you that they live up that name. Their previous three albums have also solidified this title, and White Women is no exception. The new album is a perfect progression of their sound, with the duo sounding more polished and experienced than ever.

The first four tracks on White Women were previously released as singles, and it's easy to see why -- they give great insight into the pure fun of the rest of the album. "Jealous (I Ain't With It)" is a perfect album opener with its pop dance vibe, and Toro Y Moi's soft vocals on "Come Alive" really compliment lead vocalist Dave's raspier voice for another dance hit. Both "Over Your Shoulder" and "Sexy Socialite" introduce a more disco-inspired feel with some cheekier lyrics. While Dave sings about being jealous of other guys hitting on his girl in "Jealous," the opposite happens in the lyrics of "Over Your Shoulder," where he tries to convince his girl not to feel self conscious around other girls.

The first unheard track on the album, "Lost on the Way Home," features Solange and takes the funk down a notch to great results. A standout track from the album, the neo-soul R&B influences are perfect for Solange's vocals, and even sounds like it could've fit on Solange's fantastic True EP. They jump right back into it with their most heavily disco-inspired track, "Play the Fool," which plays like the beginning of a Diana Ross or Donna Summer song, and even a more polished version of "Bad Girls."

"Ezra's Interlude" is the most different track on the album, but a perfect release from the electronic sound with vocals from Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend. It successfully works as a kind of palate cleanser with the simple piano keys. No vocals from Dave on this one, they just let Ezra do his thing and it works well.

"Old 45S" is another standout song, with its '80s-inspired new wave sound, and a nostalgic romantic chorus that could easily been featured on an '80s movie soundtrack. Then we move onto the longest track on the album, the six-and-a-half minute "Somethingood," which starts off retreating back to their classic funk sound, while the second half tapers down into a more simplistic downtempo beat.

Closing out the album are two of their more experimental songs, "Frequent Flyer" and "Fall Back 2U," which both play with distorting Dave's vocals a bit and layering drums and synth beats. "Fall Back 2U" even has a jazzy saxophone break before ending the record.

Chromeo are currently on tour promoting White Women, which will be officially released May 12th on iTunes and Amazon. If you want to party with the funklordz, check out the tour dates and locations on Chromeo's Zumic artist page.
