Within hours of being released from prison on marijuana possession charges, Wiz Khalifa has thrown caution to the wind by releasing his 28 Grams mix tape. Listen to the full 28 tracks above, and cop that free download via DatPiff.

Clocking in at nearly 89 minutes, it's an ambitious mix tape with an abundance of guest spots by a collection of rappers and producers including 808 Mafia, Berner, Chevy Woods, Cozmo, Curren$y, Curtis Williams, DJ Drama, JR Donato, Juicy J, Metro Boomin, Pimp C, Ricky P, SAP, Sledgren, Sonny Digital, Thundercat, Tuki Carter, Ty$, and Uzi. From the outset, it's clear the tape is full of bass bumpin' anthems equally suitable for partying or driving around hustling. There's plenty of references to ganja, as you'd expect.

What you might not expect is that auto-tune is in full effect through most of the album, and you can feel the influence of new wave electro R&B singer Future on a lot of tracks. Ty$ is featured on "Banger" but he's the only singer of that vein who gets official credit on 28 Grams.

Highlights include "Samo," "Up Down," "The Last," "Different So Fast," and the hard hitting "Word on The Town" which was produced by Taylor Gang Records signee Juicy J, who also dropped the hook on the tune alongside Pimp C. "Maan" and "The Rain" are effective uses of other artists' hot beats - namely Schoolboy Q's "Man Of The Year" and Missy Elliot's "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" - employing the common use of an unauthorized sample on a free mix tape.

After being bombarded with auto-tune, the Thundercat assisted "Something Special" features organic production style and human vocals, which comes off as a refreshing change of pace - although honestly the song might have been more appropriately called "Something Average" because the songwriting and lyricism just aren't that special.

Some tracks like "Jim Brown" and "Comb Over" could have easily been left out, as they drag and don't offer anything particularly new or interesting. Obviously, Khalifa wanted 28 tracks to match the 28 Gram title, but those songs just detract from the overall listening experience. Other songs like "Foreign," "Incense," and "OUY" toe the line between hypnotizing and boring - a classic dilemma for stoner artists of any genre.

One thing this mix tape will be remembered for is that it came out almost immediately after Khalifa was arrested (and subsequently released) for marijuana possession at an airport in El Paso, Texas. The rapper shared a bevy of images on his Twitter publicizing the event and asking for support:
