Old Crow Medicine Show have released the new single "Sweet Amarillo" from their upcoming album, Remedy, coming out July 1st.

"I don't know if we could've made this record five years ago. I know we couldn't have made it ten years ago. It just feels like a kind of zenith of a band that's coming well into its second decade," fiddler and singer Ketch Secor said to Esquire about his group's upcoming album. Old Crow Medicine Show have worked in tandem with bands such as Mumford and Sons and The Avett Brothers to bring banjo-fueled anthems to arenas around the world. Secor states that while his outfit generally functions as an opening act for the other two, they view each other as colleagues, constantly sharing and influencing one another. "It's supposed to be passed around, like a jug, and we all sort of take a swig. We all put something into it, too, kind of like a potluck." He says the age old tradition of co-authorship is not only the foundation his genre was built upon, but the platform on which he has been able to achieve the most success.

Old Crow Medicine Show's platinum single, "Wagon Wheel," is a track on which Secor and his hero Bob Dylan share the writing credits. As a teenager he acquired a bootleg of outtakes from Dylan's Pat Garret and Billy The Kid soundtrack which featured an unfinished song titled "Rock Me Mama." Secor re-wrote the song into what has since become the band's defining treasure. "Wagon Wheel" received approval from Dylan himself, as well as a 50/50 co-authorship deal, bridging the gap between these two generations of songwriters.

We'll be waiting until July 1st, to see if lightning strikes twice when Remedy is released, featuring the second Dylan-Secor collaboration, the aforementioned "Sweet Amarillo."

You can pre-order Remedy on iTunes now.
