"Whispers" - Passenger [Official Full Album Stream + Zumic Review]

After last year's international success of "Let Her Go" from All The Little Lights, Passenger is back with another hauntingly beautiful album. You can stream the deluxe version (which features acoustic versions of seven of the eleven original songs) of Whispers above via Spotify.

In an interview with Digital Spy, the English singer-songwriter says Whispers is "easily the most 'up' album [he's] ever made," that "it's quite cinematic" and has "lots of big stories and big ideas." The big stories and ideas are certainly detectable throughout the album; especially in songs like "Riding to New York," about a dying man who's racing to see his loved ones before it's too late, and "Heart's on Fire," about finding the right love at the wrong time.

Passenger says himself, that it wouldn't be a Passenger album without "somber moments about loneliness and death." These moments are most apparent in the title track, "Whispers," with lyrics like "And it's hard to find a reason / When all you have is doubt," "Everyone's filling me up with noise / I don't know what they're talking about," and "All I need's a whisper / In a world that only shouts."

Contrastingly, the album balances itself out and lives up to its "up" element with songs like "Coins In A Fountain" and "27." Lyrics like "Hope is a ghost in the deepest of memories / Stronger than ten of me / Fear is the enemy" and "I write songs that come from the heart / I don't give a fuck if they get to the chart or not" are some uplifting messages that open the album. These aren't the only great songs featured on the album, though. Listen above and decide for yourself which song is your favorite.
