Eclectic new wave group Devo are releasing a concert DVD entitled The Men Who Make the Music, which will immortalize the band's experimental performances of the late '70s. It will also include their '96 set, "Butch Devo and the Sundance Gig," following the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Watch them pay homage to the McDonald's Big Mac in "Too Much Paranoia" above.

From bassist Jerry Casale:

In January of '96, we closed Sundance Film Festival. We wore Twenties-style prison suits and dished out classic Devo songs to an unsuspecting audience of Hollywood elite.

The compilation will also feature a few music videos and "a vague story about Devo's rocky relationship with 'Big Entertainment.'" The band has just wrapped a brief tour that focused on their early material before they signed to Warner Bros. in 1978, calling it "Hardcore Devo." The tour was announced just a month after original guitarist and keyboardist Bob Casale died suddenly of heart failure.

In a press release, the band proclaimed:

The tour is dedicated to the memory of Robert Casale, (A.K.A. Bob 2), one of the 5 original Devo band members who is now touring the universe.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jerry Casale recalls:

In the mid-1990s, we began to play shows and festivals again. Bob just loved playing live. He was like me. We wanted to write songs, have a voice in the marketplace and play live as the payoff. We never lost our energy onstage and when we got older we made fewer mistakes and actually played better.

There is currently a fundraiser in place via GoFundMe to raise $100,000 for Bob Casale's family expenses. Visit the link to donate.

The DVD is set to release on August 12th. Pre-order The Men Who Make the Music on Amazon.
