Florida's own Merchandise have released a new track off their upcoming album, After the End. Watch the accompanying video, with the album artwork's sculpture in rotation, above.
The band are making grandiose synth-pop music for the masses. It's a sound so big and full that it doesn't feel like it should be contained in a single room, but instead played to an entire stadium. There are plenty of nods to '80s pop and new wave, mostly in the way the instrumentation plateaus underneath emotional, deep-throated vocal delivery. After each verse line, there's a piercing sitar sound that resonates like Indian meditation music. A brief guitar solo in the track's third minute wraps things up nicely before thundering drums drop us off at the end.
"Green Lady" will be featured on the band's third full-length, After the End. Pre-order it on iTunes. Read more about the release and check out tour dates via 4AD.
