Dr. John will be releasing an album titled Ske-Dat-De-Dat: The Spirit of Satch later this month in honor of jazz great Louis Armstrong. A song from that album, a cover of "Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen" featuring Ledisi & The McCrary Sisters, has surfaced, and you can listen to it above.

Gentle piano playing from Dr. John supported with empathetic organ notes open up the song. The band kicks in with a funky beat and Ledisi takes the vocals. Dr. John's background piano playing with clean guitar riffs cleverly hidden take us to a Dr. John solo that feels laid back and positive. The McCrary sisters shine with their style of gospel singing as Ledisi reaches into her soul to finish out the song with all her energy. The Louis Armstrong version tugs at your emotions with his vocals, whereas this version will lift up your spirits thanks to the piano and Ledisi.

Dr. John shared his thoughts about the song to Billboard:

Everybody rose to the occasionables -- Sarah Morrow did a slammin' job arranging and producing it, Ledisi sang way spiritually hip and The McCrary Sisters did a hellfied job backin her up. The whole band was on the one. I think Louis Armstrong would dig it to the max

Ske-Dat-De-Dat: The Spirit of Satch will be released in North America on August 19th via Concord Records and September 1st in Europe via Proper Records. You can pre-order the album via iTunes and Amazon. For further music, news, and tour information on Dr. John, check out his Zumic artist page.
