This November, TV On The Radio are coming out with Seeds, their fifth studio album and the first since 2011's Nine Types of Light. Today, they've shared "Happy Idiot," a stellar new single with an accompanying music video.
The new song kicks off with disco-inspired electronic rhythms, but don't let the upbeat sound fool you. Tunde Adebimpe's melancholy lyrics and morose vocals make this a somewhat depressing tune. The song is DEVO-esque not only in sound, but in its ability to tackle heartbreaking subject matter with high-energy electronic rhythms. The lyric video is mesmerizing, with a strange, flowing substance filling the background. It's like a leaky lava lamp or a psychedelic fire extinguisher. Watch the clip above.
You can download "Happy Idiot" on iTunes or stream it via Spotify. Seeds will be out on Harvest Records on November 18th. Pre-order is available now through the band's official store.
