After his buzzworthy set at this years Newport Folk Festival, New Orleans native Benjamin Booker took an acoustic guitar and performed "Have You Seen My Son" exclusively for NPR. You can watch the performance above.

Setting up outside a tunnel in Fort Adams State Park, Benjamin tunes his guitar when he drops it down a water drain. The crew can do nothing but laugh. He goes into the mellow song with sincere guitar strumming and a singing voice straight out of a '20s juke joint.

He adds verses in this performance that aren't on the album version. These lyrics hint at a father praying for his sons' soul as he is lost in the world, reflecting Benjamin's travelling years. While the album version is an electrified rocker, this is a more intimate look at the song.

From the clip, we learn that Benjamin applied to be an intern at NPR four years ago, but was not accepted. I guess you can say it's ironic how fate works in certain ways.
