Hozier is new singer-songwriter on the music scene. If you haven't heard his music yet, it's about time you've caught up. A little over a week ago, the Irish rock singer released a studio performance of "Jackie and Wilson," a single from his upcoming debut record. The song as you may have guessed, is also a tribute to the legendary soul singer Jackie Wilson. In an official statement, Andrew Hozier-Byrne commented on the origins of his new single and the man who inspired it:

He’s a big influence for me, he’s fantastic. I think Elvis was the white Jackie Wilson, rather than any other way ’round. I suppose the song is about being lost. There’s sometimes a recurring theme of looking from the outside in and idealising some idea of somebody or something as a cure for oneself. It’s also me trying to enjoy writing something more fun, playing something more fun.

Hozier's new tune will have you bobbing your head and tapping your feet with his husky vocals and bluesy guitar licks. It may have been a bold move to make a tribute to such a music legend as a young artist, but Hozier definitely pulls it off. You're bound to hit repeat at least once, I know I have at least ten times.

The rock singer first gained notice with his music video for "Take Me To Church," which was released a little less than a year ago on September 25th, 2013. The song gained a lot of notice for shedding light on the increase of attacks of the LGBT community in Russia. Hozier's ominous lyrics are a beautiful backdrop for the impressive music video that interprets the disturbing events taking place in our world against the queer community. It is clear that many agree, with the music video reaching close to nine million views on YouTube.

You can purchase both "Jackie and Wilson" and "Take Me To Church" before Hozier's self-titled debut album is released on October 7th. The Irish singer-songwriter will kick off his European/US tour on September 17th in London, UK. Many of his shows have already sold out, so make sure to get tickets if you can because this is an artist you don't want to miss.

You can preorder Hozier's debut album on iTunes, Amazon, and his official music store.
