Lagwagon haven't released a new full-length since 2005's Resolve, but that's not to say they've been slacking. Frontman Joey Cape has a career as a solo artist, and he plays guitar in Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, along with drummer Dave Raun.
Now, though, Lagwagon are back, and they brought a blistering new sound with 'em. The familiar hardcore riffage has turned into metal-inspired chugging, and Cape's doubled vocal is genre-defying. That's not to say the track isn't still distinctly Lagwagon, though. The lyrics are still contemplative and the rock is still relentless. Joey told Noisey, "I think ‘The Cog In The Machine’ is the core sound of Lagwagon in our current state."
This is good news, then, for Lagwagon fans who like the new sound, because they're releasing a brand new record on October 28th. It'll be called Hang and you can pre-order it now through Fat Wreck Chords.
