After a 48-year career in music, Jackson Browne shows no sign of slowing down. Today, he released his 15th studio album titled Standing In the Breach, which you can listen to above.

Standing In The Breach opens with "The Birds Of St. Marks," a song that he started writing in his beginning years. It sets the mood of the album with its '60s rock feel. Songs such as "Yeah Yeah" feature smart storytelling lyrics that Browne has always been associated with. "The Long Way Around" and "Standing In The Breach" stand out with soft acoustic picking and piano playing that add a warm depth. The album never settles on one style for too long, though, as "Leaving Wilson" rocks with a cowboy vibe and "Which Side" shakes things up with a politically charged theme.

In an interview with Esquire, Browne talked about how he approached the album in terms of songwriting:

I’ve been more or less productive at different times in my life, but I had to become more industrious to get this album made. I put as much into the writing of the songs as I ever have with anything I’ve ever done, but when I started it wasn’t in the context of record-making. It was more in the context of living and trying to find an approach to certain topics that I figured were important to me and, I think, important to life.

Skillful slide work is highlighted on the uplifting "You Know The Night," while a soft acoustic style is featured on "Here." "If I Could Be Anywhere" and "Walls And Doors" skillfully blend piano rock with an atmospheric ambiance.

Jackson Browne lends a warm vocal approach to each song, with honest lyrics that span from his early years to the present day. His voice remains crisp, and the underlying guitars throughout the album really push his words forward.
