Yesterday, Jaden Smith released a new single "Melancholy." The song features a few verses from Smith over Pink Floyd's fantastic tune "Breathe." The track also features his sister, Willow Smith, singing along to Pink Floyd's hook in between Jaden's verses. Smith chose his sample well, the eerie psychedelic feel of "Breathe" contributing to the gloom he describes in his lyrics.

This isn't the first time Smith has chosen a successful sample. His song "Pumped Up Kicks (Like Me)" used Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" in a very similar way. While the choice of sample is fantastic, Smith has some work to do when it comes to lyrics. Verses about pop quizzes and not knowing what to eat simply don't match up to the artistry of Pink Floyd's music.
