Today, the official lyric video for T.I.'s single "New National Anthem" featuring Skylar Grey was released on his YouTube channel. The song was officially released on August 20th and and serves as the third single from his upcoming album, Paperwork. The album will be released on October 21st.

The self-proclaimed King of the South has taken the socially conscious route with this song. In the wake of the shooting of the innocent teen Micheal Brown, "New National Anthem" discusses racism and the injustice African-Americans experience on a daily basis. An infuriated T.I. rapidly flows to the Tommy Brown-produced song saying, "Trayvon in a hoodie, walking through the neighborhood he / Didn’t do shit to buddy, he didn’t have to die did he? / I guess it’s because his dad was a judge in the city / They didn’t want him in the pen with the thugs that could get him." Skylar Grey seems to be the go-to singer for rappers in need of powerful, dramatic-sounding hooks within a song that contains a strong message, e.g. "Words I Never Said" by Lupe Fiasco and "I Need a Doctor" by Dr. Dre. The outro of the song features T.I. venting his feelings about the country we live in.

Tip's album Paperwork hits stores tomorrow. Buy it on Amazon.
