Today, Sharon Van Etten released a new music video for her song "Your Love Is Killing Me" which is off her most recent album Are We There. Watch the video above.
Clocking in at over 5 minutes, it's a little longer than your typical music video -- but they've shaved over a minute off the album version of the song. The cinematic approach from director Sean Durkin is aesthetically pleasing and emotionally powerful. Actress Carla Juri plays the part of the main character, as she's going through some sort of mental breakdown in New York City.
What makes this an awesome video is that it's open to interpretation. There's just enough to give the audience a glimpse but not enough to get the full picture. This aspect combined with the intense song about a toxic relationship makes for something really special. This is the kind of video that gets better with multiple viewings.
Are We There is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes.
