The Velvet Underground Live in 1967 (Color Footage Shot by Andy Warhol) [YouTube Video]

Above, you can watch video of the only known color footage of The Velvet Underground performing live. The video was shot by Andy Warhol while the band performed at the Boston Tea Party club in 1967.

The music we hear is from The Velvet Underground & Nico, for which Andy did the artwork. The footage that we see is raw and not easy to watch at first. There's barely any light and plenty of unrecognizable scenes. The band is onstage performing and there are crowd shots, but we don't know what songs they're playing. The concert was a part of the Exploding Plastic Inevitable project, Warhol's series of multimedia events. Some scenes are erratic, and others focus on a subject for an extended amount of time. Watch above for a glimpse into the past.
