PUNCH BROTHERS ON WXPN WORLD CAFE SETLIST 2.10.2015
"I Blew It Off"
"Magnet"
"BoLL Weevil""

The Punch Brothers released their most recent LP last month, The Phosphorescent Blues. As part of their press campaign, the acoustic quintet stopped by WXPN for an interview and performance on NPR Music's World Cafe.

The group talks about recording the newest album alongside Joseph Henry "T Bone" Burnett, who has recorded the likes of Elvis Costello, Elton John, B.B. King, and Robert Plant. They also talk about the subject of the album, which is communication in the modern age. Mandolinist / founder Chris Thile elaborates on making meaningful connections in this day and age which is based highly on digital connection. It's an interesting note that going in to the creative sessions for this album, they didn't have a lyrical theme in mind, but it became eminent through face-to-face conversation and time together, ironically enough.

The Punch Brothers perform three songs off The Phosphorescent Blues, including the smooth sailing "I Blew It Off," the upbeat "Magnet," and the more traditional bluegrass sounding "BoLL Weevil."

You can buy The Phosphorescent Blues on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes.
