The quiet intimacy of NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts gives artists the opportunity to showcase their musical chops. In a setting so raw, without the aide of flashy visuals or voice-altering production equipment, artists are put through a make-or-break situation. PHOX not only rises to the challenge of this setting, but they utilize its acoustic environment to give the audience a truly wonderful musical experience. Watch above.

Lead-singer Monica Martin has a vocal quality that takes cues from Regina Spektor and Corinne Bailey Rae. She never over-extends herself, gliding from mid to high range notes with ease. The rest of the band supports Martin with superb and well placed vocal harmonization. Band members often play multiple instruments, one of the members switching between guitar, synthesizer, and glockenspiel in "Slow Motion." A highly talented group of musicians, PHOX is practically tailored to this NPR series.

PHOX can be purchased on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
