Today, Swedish rockers Refused have shared a second track from their upcoming new album, Freedom. Listen to "Françafrique" above while checking out the lyric video by Eric Richter.

Vocalist Dennis Lyxzén spoke with The Guardian about the lyrical content in the songs that will be found in the new album:

... Politics, existential issues and what we wanted to present as a band in 2015... We talked about the political situation in Europe, capitalism and how it affects people.

"Françafrique" reflects France's relationship with its former African colonies, which is the definition of the song's title. In the song, Lyxzén says it's "just another word for genocide." The lyrics blame France and Belgium for the brutal dictatorships of Mobutu Sese Seko and Jean-Bédel Bokassa that were responsible for countless deaths in Central Africa from the '60s to the '90s.

Musically, the song is a menacing number with aggressive stop and go guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and vocals with attitude. The band does a skillful job inserting horn parts during the chorus, adding a full-bodied sound.

You can listen to the previously shared track "Elektra" here on Zumic.

Freedom will be released June 30th via Epitaph Records. Pick it up on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
