Last Sunday, The Rolling Stones kicked off their North American Zip Code tour in San Diego. The tour is in conjunction with their June 9th release of a deluxe version of their 1971 album Sticky Fingers. Yesterday, the band shared another gold nugget from that release with an alternate version of "Dead Flowers." Listen to it above via The Rolling Stones YouTube channel.

This alternate version, recorded in 1970, has a real bright sound to it, especially in the guitars and drums. Mick Jagger's vocals are crystal clear, and the tune keeps its upbeat, cowboy style flavor that can be found in the album version. One noticeable difference is the rhythm, which seems a bit faster in this version, as well as the absence of Ian Stewart's piano playing.

The vintage quality video shows some scenes that coincide with lyrics found in the song, such as flowers, a horse race, signs, and a graveyard. Last month, the band shared a video of themselves rehearsing "Dead Flowers" at London's Marquee Club in 1971.

Previously, the band shared alternate studio versions of "Can’t You Hear Me Knocking," "Wild Horses," and "Bitch."

Pick up the deluxe version of Sticky Fingers on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3, Cassette).
