If you've seen Courtney Barnett's music video for "Depreston" you'll know that the dismal destination isn't a place anyone is particularly dying to visit. The song itself is gorgeous, however, and lucky for us, the "Take Away Show" from La Blogothèque presents us with this special intimate performance. Watch it above.
Capturing a lone Barnett in a gated alleyway, shy passers-by filter in and out of the shot as the singer meanders about. The song itself is beautifully harrowing yet clever, with a surprising sense of humor in spite of depicting a place that seems to lack any kind of charm. We may not ever want to go there, but we'll certainly listen to Barnett sing about it.
Courtney Barnett released Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit back in March, which is available on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3). Stream the album and read our review here on Zumic.
