The Black Keys' frontman Dan Auerbach has assembled a new group called The Arcs, and have shared a new single titled "Stay In My Corner" that will be on their upcoming debut album, Yours, Dreamily,. Listen to the track above, via The Arcs' YouTube.
"Stay In My Corner" finds Auerbach getting in touch with his R&B side, combining a soul groove with background organ, soft keyboards, slide guitar, and echoed falsetto vocals. The song is a fresh sound, and a far cry from the heavily distorted music that Auerbach has made in The Black Keys.
Members of the band include saxophonist Leon Michels (who's also the founder of Truth and Soul Records), producer / multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift (who has been touring with The Black Keys as a bassist), drummer Homer Steinweiss, bassist Nick Movshon, guitarist Kenny Vaughan, and female group called Mariachi Flor de Toloache.
The tune was inspired by the Floyd Mayweather / Manny Pacquiao boxing match that took place on May 2nd, 2015. The track was originally released last month as a 7" with another song titled "Tomato Can" to independent record stores via Nonesuch Records.
Yours, Dreamily, will be released on September 4th, and is available for pre-order on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
