The past few years have been quiet ones for California band Eagles of Death Metal. After their 2008 album Heart On, bassist Brian O'Connor was diagnosed with cancer and left the band until he recovers. Jesse Hughes went on to complete his solo record, while Josh Homme managed to stay busy with Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures (with Dave Grohl and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones). After a seven year break, however, Hughes and Homme are back with a brand new album, Zipper Down.

The first single is "Complexity," an upbeat tune that Homme (aka "Baby Duck" compares to "the musical equivalent of holding a lucky rabbit’s foot with the unlucky rabbit still attached.” He also says, "In an independent study, four out of three doctors say ZIPPER DOWN is an eargasm trapped inside a crazerbeam. And I believe them." We're not entirely sure what any of that means, but the song is definitely fun and catchy. Check it out above.

Vice is also making a movie about the group, called The Redemption of the Devil. Here's a preview:

Look for Zipper Down to drop on October 2. Eagles of Death Metal's last album, Heart On, can be found on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
