Lana Del Rey continues crafting a sound that's part pop princess and part gangster. Check out the YouTube official music video for "High By The Beach" above.

The melodic elements are catchy, while lyrics like "bullshit" and "motherfucker" are pretty edgy -- not to mention the whole theme of the song being about getting high. When The Beatles sang about getting by and getting high on "With A Little Help From My Friends" in 1967, it was radical and slightly heartwarming. Those words sound played out and dirty in this context, which seems to be Del Rey's intention.

The song incorporates modern hip hop / R&B production, with a big bass hits and rapid-fire hi-hats that sound like they could have been done with a Roland 808 drum machine. The video, meanwhile, is pretty crazy.

Lana Del Rey's previous song, "Honeymoon" was released last month. Her next album is supposed to also be called Honeymoon, with no release date currently scheduled.
