Nelly samples Marvin Gaye's classic hit "Sexual Healing" with "The Fix," his first song since leaving Universal Records. The track features Jeremih and is produced by DJ Mustard and Mike Free. We haven't learned if the song will be featured on an upcoming album. Stay posted for more information.
"The Fix" serves as a duet, with Nelly and Jeremih trading melodic vocals. The two brag about satisfying their women's sexual needs. Jeremih sings in the hook:
When you need that fix
That medicine
I know you like it like this
When you get that itch
Adrenaline
Heart beatin' outta your chest
DJ Mustard's minimalistic, club-oriented production chasing Gaye's "Sexual Healing" groove is perfection. You've got to love songs that blend old school and new school.
With most rap songs of today containing melodic verses, Nelly fits right in because this is a style he's been doing since he broke through as a star 15 years ago. The biggest change for Nelly is that now he's on the newly formed RECORDS Records, which he talked about with Hot 97 this week.
