Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly is one of the most epic, poetic rap albums of all time. Last night, the Compton rapper performed a medley of songs from the LP on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Watch above.

The 6½ minute performance features abridged versions of "Wesley's Theory," "Momma," "King Kunta" and "u." Kendrick also throws in some new lines, including a reference to a "ghost writer." The band behind Kendrick is smokin', with two bass players including Thundercat and a very strong drum performance. There's a lot happening, and it all goes off pretty much flawlessly.

Kendrick was the final musical act to perform on The Colbert Report, and he was initially billed as the first musical performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, although he actually followed an all-star cast on the opening night of the show doing a very cool rendition of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People."

To Pimp A Butterfly is available for order on Amazon (CD, MP3), but you can also stream the full album for free and read our short review here on Zumic.
