Here we have the first taste and opening track of beloved Portland, OR band The Thermals Desperate Ground, due out April 16th on Saddle Creek. This will be the band's first record since 2006's The Body, The Blood and The Machine and "Born To Kill" has long time fans excited as the band seems to be sticking to the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" adage and sticking with their proven formula of straight ahead pop-punk with scrappy production and earnest lyrics. Singer Hutch Harris talked with Spin about the nature of the new record and single:

"To me, the whole journey of the record was more about someone learning to deal with the harsh reality around them. I wanted to start with someone who was fighting for freedom and fighting for their family, someone who doesn't enjoy killing but is doing it because it's necessary. Ultimately, that character realizes, "Oh I was born to kill, I was made to do this. It's what I'm good at.' Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorite movies, and [Joker] has two pins: one's a peace sign and there other says 'Born to Kill.'"
