Neil Young's 1988 album with The Bluenotes, This Note's For You, was a departure from anything he had ever done before and unlike anything he's done since. Above, you can listen to a newly released live version of "Twilight" recorded at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, OH on April 23, 1988, which will be part of a new archival release called Bluenote Café.

Before launching into the tune, Neil tells the audience, "This song here's brought to you by nobody!" referencing the title-track from the album, "This Note's For You," which famously criticized corporate sponsorship in music.

"Twilight" is a delicate slow jam, with Neil's piercing electric guitar balanced against soft horns. Neil's lyrics and vocals are maybe as romantic as anything he's ever done, while there is a dark, ominous quality that's a little unsettling. At eight minutes, this performance is significantly longer than the studio version of the song, which clocks in at under six minutes. There's actually decent video of this performance on YouTube, as well.

Set to be officially released on November 13, 2015, you can pick up Bluenote Café on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).

We've also heard a previously unreleased versions of "Crime In The City" and "Hello Lonely Woman" from Bluenote Café, which you can listen to here on Zumic as well.
