Before Dave Grohl started the Foo Fighters, he was a pretty kick-ass drummer for '90s band Nirvana. The Muppets' Animal is also a wild man on the skins, being the drummer of fictional The Muppet Show band Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem. It's worth noting that Grohl made a guest appearance in the Muppets 2011 movie as the drummer of The Moopets.

Above, you can watch the two battle it out to see who's the best. The skit appeared during the closing credits of Going, Going, Gonzo, last night's episode of The Muppets on ABC. You can watch the full episode on ABC.com, Hulu, or your local television provider.

"Waiting years for this, Animal" says Dave before the duo go back and forth, pounding their kits until they knock them over. Who wins? You'll just have to watch and see. We can't help but think of great drummers like Led Zeppelin's John Bonham and The Who's Keith Moon. Too bad this is only a minute long!

What do you think? Was this as good as last year's epic drum-off between Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Pepper's Chad Smith on The Tonight Show?

Last month, the Foo Fighters released a surprise 5 song EP titled Saint Cecilia. You can listen to that and read our review here on Zumic. The vinyl edition will be available January 29, 2016 via Amazon.
