"Fools Gold" - The Arcs [VEVO Official Audio Stream]

Danger Mouse has released a new LP titled 30th Century Records Compilation Volume I that features a mix of indie rock bands from his new record label, 30th Century Records. Above, you can hear a song titled "Fools Gold," contributed from Dan Auerbach's newest music project, The Arcs.

Auerbach has called Danger Mouse (real name Brian Burton) The Black Keys' honorary third member, as he's co-written songs and co-produced several albums by the group going back to Attack & Release in 2008. Auerbach shared a statement with Rolling Stone about some insight of "Fools Gold":

Generally, fool's gold is made of iron or copper pyrites that are often mistaken for gold. It has the same thrilling discovery, the same shiny luster and perceived weight as gold, but it isn't gold and when all is said and done, it has the same value as a hunk of shit. It's always been so easy to be a fool. We recorded this song at Easy Eye Sound in the summer of 2015. Honored to have it released on Brian's new imprint.

The mid-tempo song is strengthened with fuzzed out guitars supported by haunting background effects, organ, and Auerbach's smooth, echoed vocal delivery. The scuzzy guitar solo midway through is definitely a nice addition as well.
